Greensky Bluegrass is Anders Beck on dobro, Michael Arlen Bont on banjo, Dave Bruzza playing guitar, Mike Devol with upright bass and Paul Hoffman on mandolin. If you’re familiar with bluegrass music, then you’re tuned in to some of what Greensky Bluegrass does. They’re also known to throw a great party, rock n roll, and (if the critics are to be believed) they have great songs. They are unquestionably a team of friends that traverse the country making music they enjoy. What makes Greensky different than Bluegrass? Poignant rural ballads about real people? Dobro tone that Jerry (Douglas or Garcia) would love? Distortion Pedals? Grit and attitude from a whiskey soaked card game? Indeed, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Garrin Benfield‘s sound has been described as Freestyle Acoustic Rock. His music is a blend of moody, guitar driven rock and polyrhythmic groove all run through the filter of a very serious Singer/Songwriter. His talent shines through as a solo artist when he flat-picks his way through complicated and lightning-fast arrangements and also while he uses a Loop Station to create mesmerizing soundscapes upon which he lays blistering rock, blues and jazz licks, darkened by his extensive use of effect pedals. Improvisation is at the center of a Garrin Benfield concert experience. Garrin twists and turns the tunes each night in an ever-evolving attempt to keep searching for new musical challenges.
ediT is a Los Angeles based music producer and DJ best known as one-third of legendary electronic music act The Glitch Mob. He references his personal brand of music as a dancefloor oriented, “experimental, electronic hip hop thing,” but by any label his impact on both the international music scene and the LA underground is undeniable.
Emancipator is known for etheric melodies, immaculately smooth samples, and addictive drum beats. One might struggle to place a finger on what makes the music so addictive, but would undoubtedly return to the underlying feeling of balance and connection. Now accompanied regularly by the harmonious swells of live violin played by Ilya Goldberg, Emancipator’s live performances have captivated a diverse audience across the globe.
Moksha has earned their reputation as Las Vegas’ secret weapon with explosive show filled with an arsenal of well-crafted material . This well-oiled machine is now emerging from the glitz and glamour of Sin City and quickly garnering a solid following of loyal fans on the West Coast. With guitar, keys, bass, drums, and horns, this unique blend of musicians lives and breathes in a deep pocket of funk rock. Swirling in subtlety, their music paints a sonic landscape that unfolds in the moment and feeds on the dynamic ebb and flow of audience and band interconnection. In other words, they will melt your faces. This show features special guest horn players Jen Hartswick (from Trey Anastasio’s solo band) and Skerik (extraordinary sax player who’s credits include Les Claypool, Galactic, Critters Buggin and many more).
Naîve Melodies was formed in Arcata, CA early in 2011, performing and honoring music created by Talking Heads. Sets are designed to interweave older and newer Talking Heads songs. Fans can expect to hear a wide range of material, from early art-rock, to radio hits, and everything in-between. With blends of three-part harmonies, synthesizers, and heavy grooves, this 3-piece dance machine does Talking Heads right!
Tracorum is an original Rock’n’Soul/Rhythm’n’Blues band from San Francisco, California. Epic live shows and original music are at the heart of this soul quenching, eclectic bay area talent. Steeped in traditional roots music the band has continued to create a positively unique sound that is the vast umbrella known as Tracorum.
