FRESH BAKIN PRESENTS THIEVERY CORPORATION AT THE GRAND SIERRA RESORT ON SEPTEMBER 2nd 2014
A GREAT DEPRESSURIZATION CHAMBER EVENT

NEW ALBUM SAUDADE OUT NOW

[July 30, 2014 – Reno, NV] Thievery Corporation travels to Reno on September 2nd for an exclusive live performance at The Grand Sierra Resort during their 2014 Fall Saudade Tour.  This show will also feature two special musical guests: house music legend Mark Farina and Dirtwire, which features David Satori of Beats Antique. The extremely special concert is considered the “main event” for Fresh Bakin’s 5th Annual Great Depressurization Chamber. The event gathers over 50 artists from Black Rock City and beyond performing poolside at The Beach, in the Summit Pavilion and latenight for an event that’s become almost as infamous as Burning Man itself.

When they met in the mid-1990s, Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton and Rob Garza instantly bonded over their shared passion for bossa nova. Dedicating their 1996 debut ‘Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi’ to bossa nova pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim, the Washington, D.C.-based duo have spent nearly two decades creating boundary-warping, complexly crafted electronic music partly inspired by bossa nova’sintricate rhythms and lush textures. Now, with their seventh studio album ‘Saudade,’ Thievery Corporation present their first release devoted entirely to the Brazilian-born genre that first connected them. “We always try to progress into something different and stretch our musical chops, and taking a whole album to dive into this one sound seemed like a really great way to do that,” says Hilton. Adds Garza: “It’s a bit of a departure for us, but at the same time these are our roots, this is what brought us together. It’s us coming full circle from electronic music back to something organic before we move on to our next chapter.”

Saudade is available through www.thieverycorporation.com, as well as all digital and physical retailers.

Tickets are available now at FreshBakin.com,  GrandSierraResort.com , and at the Grand Sierra box office.

“A true pioneer and master of musical expression, GriZ  stands head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of the sheer variety of his ever-evolving technical prowess. A tremendously passionate and soulful producer, GriZ has a peerless knack for creating profoundly engaging melodies to offset the presence of his phenomenally designed bass. Where many artists become mired in a over-simplified and standardized method of production for the sake of creative efficiency; GriZ has no qualms sacrificing speed for the sake of quality, technical diversity, and an unrelenting devotion to progress and dynamism.

Beginning his saga as a producer at the young age of fourteen, it is immediately evident that his talent and devotion will lead him on a journey of exceptional musical diversity and exploration. From funky rhythms to jazzy melodic embellishment, GriZ effortlessly incorporates his instrumental zeal for the saxophone with his lifelong dedication to soulful, laser-infused beat-making. This is only the beginning for Grant, and already the stylistic range of his material is both inspirational and utterly awe-inspiring.” – Ethan Baer (SubSynthesis.com)

POLISH AMBASSADOR with DJ Vadim at Biltmore (Tahoe)

* THE POLISH AMBASSADOR featuring visuals by LIMINUS *

For the Polish Ambassador project, born on the richly-colored streets of Chicago and San Francisco, infectious melody is paramount. However, this never overshadows the depth and harmonic complexity that have made the Ambassador a favorite amongst festival curators and beat aficionados worldwide. Over the course of 6 years, his sound has dipped and swirled through a staggering range of styles, with each album exploring uncharted
sonic territory. Warm, analogue dreamwave; mind-altering glitch; worldinfused groove; bass-fueled breaks; sexified downtempo; electric lullabies; and psy-fi funk are just a few of the genres that have poured from the
Ambassador’s soul into earbuds and ghetto-blasters across the galaxy.

Despite the political connotations of his name, the Ambassador is not a political partisan. Rather, he is a diplomat for a new paradigm rooted in creative joy, radical self-expression, and ecological principles. As part of this mission, the Ambassador has committed to carbon-neutral touring, instigating exploratory dance, and igniting fan participation.

Flanked on the Ambassador’s left is visual artist Liminus, a master of translating dynamic, sonic landscapes into breathtaking video projection. Liminus’s improvisational abilities are a perfect compliment to the Ambassador’s custom-tailored audio transmission, and his presence on stage allows for an audio/visual synergy rarely witnessed in electronic music performance.

Together, the duo will take you on a voyage that leaves you drenched in sweat, with a smile slapped on your face, and a heart busted wide open. Check the calendar, TPA’s Space Escalade is likely docking at an Earth city near you. To prepare yourself download the Ambassador’s 11 album, 30 remix discography for “Name Your Price” at http://thepolishambassador.bandcamp.com/

When you see Christian Bauhofer after the sun goes down, you will find the smiling DJ/producer assuming his party crushing alter-ego, MINNESOTA.  The Santa Cruz local has recently been working on his new EP Altered States, which is set for release in late October, and features collaborations with Grizzly J and Zion I. This EP is more dance-floor oriented than his previous work, embracing higher energy and a more bass driven sound, while still maintaining melodicism. Staying true to his own sound is far more important to Minnesota than just playing banging dubstep, keeping his fans coming back for more.

Minnesota’s tracks are influenced by artists including MiMOSA and Modeselektor. Some of his personal favorites such as Bassnectar and PANTyRAID have also been playing his tracks in their sets. “Quickly becoming a staple in my sets,” commented Bassnectar when discusing the track “Push It.” “Perfect for when I need a track that is epic and churning but also melodically hyped.”

It is not only other artists who have gained an appreciation for Minnesota’s sound. After a young man’s hearing was restored and he was able to listen to music for the first time in his life, he chose Minnesota’s remix of Shotgun Radio’s “A Bad Place” as one of the top 5 songs he’d heard, next to artists such as Mozart, Il Postino and Sigur Ros.

Minnesota’s first EP, Panda Snatching Tycoon, was released on Tycho Records in January of 2011 to critical acclaim. His second release, Ancient Machines, on Mal Label was number nine on the Addictech best seller’s list for the year, and every track charted on the Beatport glitch hop charts. Recently, his remix of “California Dreamin'” resurfaced and topped the Hype Machine at#1. Minnesota also collaborated with MartyParty in 2011 on a free EP called Ultraviolet Halo.

Minnesota’s upcoming Altered States Tour sees him hitting many cities across the US, joined on many dates by Zion I. Zion I are a hip-hop duo from Oakland, California, consisting of producer DJ AmpLive and MC Zumbi. The group is known for Amp’s futuristic production techniques, using a mix of live instrumentation and samples, and Zumbi’s positive and socially conscious lyrics. Minnesota’s live performance sees him providing the best possible experience by paying close attention to the crowd and putting time and effort in preparing his set.

BoomBox consists of two versatile producers, DJs, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and longtime friends Russ Randolph and Zion Rock Godchaux. Together they have developed an electronic blend of vintage Rock and Blues made to move dance floors while incorporating their signature Backbeat, Psychedelia and Funky House sounds. Applying a multi-track platform, they are free to create their hybrid style on the fly with a rhythm that makes fans move. Derived from the rich musical history of Muscle Shoals, AL, to the psychedelic rock and underground electronic scenes of the west coast, their unique approach is achieved by blending of sound and culture.

Traditional set lists are never created prior to shows, instead, BoomBox chooses the music based on the atmosphere, to create a one-of-a-kind experience for fans. Randolph adds, “We just want to go out with no game plan. That way it’s fresh for us, and we can follow the energy of the crowd. We’re down to get down, and we hope that people are down with us.”

BoomBox’s first release, Visions of Backbeat, contained the breakout song “Stereo” that built the foundation for their rapidly growing fan base. After years of steady touring and honing their sound, they released their sophomore effort, downriverelectric, and was hailed by critics as a progressive follow up effort.
